About the company
4 entriesWhat does Bharat Lineage actually do?
We find financial assets that have gone dormant, establish who is legally entitled to them, and carry the claim through to recovery. That covers shares and dividends transferred to the IEPF, securities that need to be transmitted to heirs, surplus left over after a secured creditor enforced its security, undrawn land acquisition compensation, and dormant mutual fund folios.
Are you a government body?
No. We are a private limited company. We are not the IEPF Authority, not SEBI, not a registrar, and not connected to any government office. We act for claimants, on their instruction, under a written authority they sign.
Can I not just do this myself?
Yes, and for a simple claim you should. Form IEPF-5 is filed free of charge on the MCA portal, and the IEPF Authority asks claimants to apply directly. People come to us when the holder has died, when the folio cannot be located, when the entitlement chain is contested, or when a claim has already been rejected once. If your matter is straightforward, we will tell you to file it yourself.
Why did you contact me?
Because our research indicates you, or a member of your family, may be the person entitled to an asset that is currently unclaimed. We approach with a specific holding in mind, not a general offer. We will tell you what we found and where we found it before asking you for anything.
Fees and engagement
4 entriesWhat do you charge?
A share of what we recover for you, at a rate that stands against anyone doing this work properly. It is agreed with you in writing before any work begins and deducted from the recovery, not billed to you separately. The initial assessment is free.
What happens if the claim fails?
You owe us nothing. We carry the work at our own risk, which is the reason we only take on matters we believe are real and recoverable.
Is there a minimum size of claim you will take?
Yes. The cost of doing a claim properly does not scale down. Tracing, records, verification and filing cost roughly the same on a small holding as on a large one. Where a recovery is too small to bear that work, we say so at the outset instead of taking the case.
Do you ask for money upfront?
No. There is no charge to ask us to look, and nothing is payable before a recovery has actually been made.
The recovery process
4 entriesHow long does a recovery take?
It depends on the register and on whether the holder is living. A straightforward IEPF claim for a living holder with complete documents is the fastest of them. A claim involving a death, multiple heirs or a court instrument runs considerably longer, because the timeline is set by the company, the authority or the court rather than by us. We give an estimate for your specific matter after verification, and we do not give one before.
What do you need from me to start?
To start looking: the names involved, any former addresses, and whatever documents the family already holds. To file: identity and PAN, a demat account, bank details, and the succession evidence relevant to your matter. The service pages list what each register requires.
Who signs the statutory filings?
You do. We file under a limited power of attorney or authority letter restricted to the specific claim. It does not give us control of your holdings, your demat account or your bank account. Recovered shares are credited to your demat account and recovered money to your bank account, not to ours.
What if my claim has already been rejected?
A claim rejected in an e-verification report is not corrected in place. The discrepancy has to be resolved with the company or its registrar and the claim re-filed. Rejected claims are a large part of what we handle, and the first work is finding out precisely why it was rejected.
Legal and data protection
4 entriesWhat happens to the information I give you?
It is collected against a written consent notice that states what it is used for, kept for the claim it relates to, and not sold or shared for marketing. We handle personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You can withdraw consent, and we will tell you what withdrawing it means for a claim in progress.
Do you provide legal advice?
The company provides research, documentation and facilitation. Work that constitutes legal practice (advocate verification, court instruments, contested succession) is handled by an advocate. We keep that boundary deliberately, and we tell you which side of it your matter sits on.
Do you guarantee recovery?
No, and anybody who does is not telling you the truth. Outcomes depend on company verification, authority processing and, where relevant, the courts. What we control is whether the file is complete and correct when it is filed.
Are the rules you describe current?
The regulatory position on this site was reviewed on 9 September 2026. IEPF and SEBI procedures are amended regularly: Form IEPF-5 was substituted with effect from 6 October 2025, and SEBI approved changes to transmission thresholds in June 2026. We confirm the position applicable to your matter at the time of filing rather than relying on published summaries, including our own.
Nothing on this page is legal advice. Regulatory position last reviewed 9 September 2026.
